It has been a quiet week and I have spent a lot of time on sorting out the computers, getting updates and tidying them up.

Chris was working at Hampton Court all week, long hours they were too. he was leaving at 6.30 and not getting home till 9.15 in the evening. Mind you I think he enjoyed the guys company, even though he moaned a lot. I wonder if he will do it again next year?

I have been doing Jessica's class and it is great fun. The first couple of things I had already covered but then it moved into new areas. I love using the effects and textures and have been playing with those.

I picked our first lot of French beans yesterday, we had then for supper and they were so nice. I need to plant more next year and I need to put some though into what else we can grow in pots. The other alternative would be a raised bed somewhere but I am not sure where we could put that. The tomatoes are also doing well and we have small, green fruit so it won't be long before we are picking those. The smell in the greenhouse is so reminiscent of my childhood and my Grandfathers plants.

We're having a heatwave!

Oh what a glorious week it has been, hot and sunny all week. the best thing is it was Wimbledon week and, despite them fitting the new roof to Centre Court it only had to be used once and even that was under question.

The garden is looking good and we are now picking raspberries, the currants will be ready soon and the apples are swelling nicely. Sadly the pear tree seems to have dropped most of it's fruit and I can only find a couple of fruit. The tomatoes in the green house though are doing really well and we should be picking fruit in a couple of weeks.

With the hot weather the attic has been too hot to work in so I haven't done much with the holiday photos. I have made a start on Christmas cards though, I need to work out how many I need to do and also make the effort to sort out getting addresses from people as I still haven't found our address book.

Finally the week saw the end of another major music stars life, Michael Jackson died of a heart attack. There has been the usual speculation and some amazing tributes and even footage of his rehearsals for the upcoming tour. His life has always been very public and yet he seemed so fragile.

Sunshine and planes

The week has been OK. Wimbledon has kept us glued to the screen when Andy Murray has been on,, he is doing well so far. Fingers crossed for week 2.

I have had to be mediator extraordinare, Jackie had one of her hissy fits and needed calming - I managed that without getting cross, I was pretty impressed with myself. then there is the Scottish connection. Things are still dragging on and I have been trying to steer things along, maybe this weekend has achieved that.

We have had a lovely weekend though, storms on Saturday with some great lightning but yesterday stayed dry. We were at Biggin Hill for the day and we were in full sunshine till it clouded over about 3pm. The airshow was good but the Vulcan didn't make it which was a real shame. There were a couple of outstanding displays, first a glider connected to it's tug plane. The pilot was a 747-400 pilot for BA and he was amazing. He was rotating while he was still connected - he did 8 or 9 rotations down the crowd line. then he was towed up to 3000ft and he dropped the tow line and then completed so many stunts on the way down. Loops, twists, rolls, it was almost as if he had an engine.

The other great display was from 10 (yes 10) Red Arrows and a Virgin Atlantic 747-400 (no not the same pilot). Knowing a bit about the clearances they need for normal displays this must have created so many bits of paper to get authority to do it but the pilot of the jumbo was ex-military which would have helped. OK so they flew in, along the flightline, in formation. That was wonderful and I will post a picture when I get them downloaded. The best was to come, after a second pass the jumbo turned and came back on it's own. Just when it got in front of us the pilot turned the engines on to full power, just like a take off. Goosebumps, I think mine had there own goosebumps. I love take off in a plane and this felt even better. All because Virgin Atlantic is 25 years old this year.

Tennis and scrapping

Chris spent most of the week at the Hurlingham Club Tennis Classic and saw Nadal play his 2 matches to decide if he was going to play at Wimbledon. He decided not to, he has tendinitis in both knees and some are wondering if he will ever play first class tennis again. I do hope he does as he is great to watch.

That left me with the office to take care of, not too much going on there and I was able to make a start on scrapping the holiday photos. I also made a mini album for Chris with the photos he took at Hurlingham and gave it to him for Fathers Day.

The weather has been warm but not too sunny and we have had the odd shower which has kept the garden looking good and I picked the first raspberries yesterday. Sadly the blueberry has failed miserably this year so it is time to take it out of the pot and rework that corner of the patio. I see a herb collection coming on.

Oh just remembered I need to sign up for Jessica Spragues class today - more next week.

One week after..

.. our holiday and it all seems like a long time away.

Having got back on Monday with a much later flight than normal we found it much easier to get back to our routine than in the past, something to bear in mind for another time.

We also had a business breakfast which was interesting, we made contact with a couple of people who could be beneficial to us.

I have started scrapping the photos, all 250 (yes 250) of them. I am planning 2 separate albums, one of the wildlife we saw and the other of all the rest.

The weather has picked up a bit, at least with the temperatures but we haven't had any storms yet but I am ever hopeful.

A day late this week..

on account of the fact that we are on holiday in Florida.

The last week was spent getting all the final things done before our departure, including yet another trip to the vet for Domino only to find out that he has a thyroid condition and will be n meds for that now as well. At least he will have a weeks rest at the cattery.

The rest of the news is in the holiday blog.

Holiday weekend

We have just had our spring Bank Holiday, well today is the holiday really, and so far we have had gorgeous weather. I say that but I have just checked for today and we are heading for rain and possible bug storms, great for me!

We had Connor for the day on Saturday, he is a delightful little boy. We spent a lot of the time in the garden with him and he just toddled around giggling. He has learnt to say 'kick it' when he wants someone else to kick the ball, then when they do it is more giggles. The only time we had tears was when he had his bath, he hated it but had to get on with it in the end. Chris is great with him and just takes it all in his stride, I would have loved to see him with his 2 when they were really little, I think he is a natural Dad.

We spent most of Sunday in the garden and got all the plants in the pots and in the garden. We also cut back the jasmine, it had got so big and didn't flower that well this year so it is almost cut back to nothing in the hope it gets a good start again.

We had good news about Domino, his heart is OK, just irregular. He will be having some blood tests to see if there is any underlying problem like thyroid or diabetes - that would be funny if he has DM.

More next week...
